Lloyd Cook established L.J. Cook and Company in 1958 as an expert French polisher and restorer.
He would restore and sell early Australian pieces out of his small shop in Burke Rd for 12 years
before his son Greg joined him in 1970.
After six years learning the restoration trade, Greg went on his first buying trip to the U.K. in 1976,
having by then found his interest turning more to the dealing side of the business, primarily in fine
quality 18th and early 19th century English furniture, including important items from the 19th century and objets d'art.
In 1997 Greg's son Glenn joined the firm and completed formal training to become an expert restorer.
Glenn has developed that part of the business to serve a large private clientele.
