When Andrew Simpson established Simpson's Antiques in 1978 he was one of the first antique dealers to specialise in
19th century Australian furniture. He is currently the country's foremost dealer in early colonial furniture,
consulting for collecting institutions and private clients nationally.
Andrew was instrumental in the formation of the Australiana Society, a forum for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
He was a co-author of Australian Art Pottery 1900-1950 (2004), Nineteenth Century Australian Furniture (1985)
and Australian Furniture Pictorial History and Dictionary 1788-1938 (1998).
The latter two have become the
standard references on the early history of furniture making in this country.
