Valentine's began in 1947 when Peter Valentine's grandfather Fred walked off the land in drought to buy and sell new and used furniture. As Fred's second-hand furniture market gradually grew and spread into the antiques trade, his son Allan took the next step in 1974 by importing quality furniture from Europe.

Allan's son Peter has continued that tradition by notching 15 straight years of overseas trips himself. Valentine's reputation rests on its high-end Victorian furniture, porcelain, ceramics, glassware and lighting with important pieces of Australian furniture providing a local alternative.
