The twin panel lid above a central panel with ebony inlay of trailing foliations, applied with a small shield bearing initials and below a date "1645", flanked by arcaded panels with inlaid flowers issuing from vases, the lower section with central panel flanked by drawers, carrying handles to the sides. A good oak and pine monastery table. The thick oak plank top with cleated ends. It stands on pine trestles joined by an oak stretcher. Excellent colour and patination. From Burgundy district France. Late 18th century. Size: 255cm wide x 91 cm deep x 76 cm high

A Geo 11 walnut chest of five drawers with quartered veneered oval panelled top with herringbone borders, the ends crossbanded. The drawers divided by half round moldings. The etched brass handles and escutcheons, period but not original. It terminates in bracket feet. England c. 1740. Size: 101 cm wide x 57 cm deep x 84 cm high

A rococo giltwood marble top console table. The serpentine top over an apron exuberantly carved with a central medallion issuing acanthus and Vitruvian scrolls continuing to cabriole legs carved with elongated C scrolls and acanthus ending ball and claw feet. Italy Lucchese 3rd quarter 18th century. Size: 149 cm wide x 68 cm deep x 98 cm high

A large pair of walnut and partial gilt armchairs. The upholstered back surmounted with acanthus leaf finials. The down swept scrolled arms over the upholstered seat supported by turned leg and stretcher base. In the 17th.century style Italy. 19th century

French iron candlestand with unusual multi candle pricket, supported by shaped scrolled braces attached to the central stem and terminating in a triform base . France. c. 1600. size: 134 cm high

Northern Italian gilded panel in relief of the Assumption of the Virgin. Original gilt and polychrome decoration. The Holy Trinity sit on clouds above, whilst angels assist Mary. Saint John crushing Lucifer, and Mary Magdalene stand gazing at the ascending Mother of God. Italy. c. 1680. Size: 35 cm wide x 58 cm high.

An oak and mahogany cross banded cabriole legged dresser base, the boarded moulded top over three cross banded drawers with brass handles and escutcheons. The area between the five cabriole legs and drawers is enhanced by a shaped apron and waist mould. Good colour and patina of the George 11 period. England. c. 1730. A miniature Rococo gilded console with sweeping lines and foliations to the free form design. It has a faux marble shaped serpentine top. France. c. 1770. 66cm wide x 32 xm deep x 77 cm high.

A large and unusually carved mirror. The frame deeply moulded with three planes of carving, the outer mould with flower head decoration, the central mould with cross hatched pattern and the inner mould with stylized foliations. Italy.18th century. size 130 cm wide x 170 cm high

'THE VIRGIN AND CHILD WITH SAINT ELIZABETH AND THE CHILD JOHN THE BAPTIST' The Virgin sits near an arched opening and a large column with Christ suckling whilst Saint Elizabeth, Mary's cousin lovingly supports John the Baptist who rests his right hand on the Lamb and leans towards Christ to kiss his feet. All this is watched by the angels above. A late 18th /early 19th century oil on canvas after Rubens, a copy of the painting hanging in the Walker Collection Liverpool Museum painted by Peter Paul Rubens after his marriage to Helena Fourment his second wife in 1630. The children in the painting are said to be modelled on his own sons. The Walker painting [Accession Number WAG4097] was purchased with the help of the National Art Collection Fund. The canvas has been professionally cleaned restored and restretched on a new frame. Size: 240 cm x 148 cm

Based his painting on the study of nature, animal subjects are his speciality and chickens were among his favourites. A walnut upholstered armchair with os de mouton turnings, covered in 16th century tapestry. France. circa 1700

Two giltwood poplar panels carved with two of the stations of the cross. 1. The procession of Christ carrying the cross with Saint Veronica holding the cloth upon which is Christs image, she having wiped his face during the arduous journey. The composition of this panel gives the impression of a huge crowd of soldiers around the central figure of christ. Jesus seems to be floating as he carries the heavy cross. The foot of the cross is supported by a young male lay figure. An unusual feature is that Jesus is restrained by a rope around his waist held by a Roman soldier brandishing a club. The opposing planes of the spears, cross and figures work very well. 2. Christ and the crown of thorns. The uniforms and the robes are very detailed and beautifully carved, the leather laps on the roman uniform being particularly well executed. The kneeling figure is offering a lily to Christ whose pain is clearly shown in the positions of his legs and shackled arms. The force with which the soldiers are applying the crown of thorns is also evident from the tension in their arms. Italy. 1st half of 17th century. Size: 63 cm x 41 cm

A Louis XV painted and gilded mirror. Having a large cresting and sweeping lines. The finish and plate appear to be original. France. Circa 1780. Size 115 cm high x 65 cm wide

Madonna and Child. Italy. Late 16th/early 17th century. Carved in lime wood with the original gesso still remaining. (Gesso was used to give a smooth finish for the polychrome and gilding to be applied). Size: 116 cm tall

AN OUTSTANDING PAIR OF CARVED AND GILDED RAMPANT LIONS. Their flowing manes cascade down their muscular bodies, heads raised in a roar with eyes, nostrils and mouth wide open. Beautifully carved and with original gilding. Italy. Mid 17th century. Base measures 36 x 16 x 14 cm H

A Lancashire or Yorkshire yew wood and elm bow back Windsor arm chair with double ring turning, tulip feet, single "H" stretcher and pierced back splat. English. Circa 1840. See "The English Windsor Chair" by Thomas Crispin page 169 for very similar example.
