Pair French Louis XVI Bergere C.1780

This pair of C1780 French Louis XVI bergere a la Reine from the time mof Marie Antoinette, are beech, originally painted, and this decoration is about 20 years old, and is copied directly from original decoration remaining on another period chair. The chairs have just been covered in a Scalamandre lampas. Bought in Paris in 1984, the pair were disassembled and reglued, and redecorated in period style. They are illustrated in The Australian Room, 1999, appeared in the film Voluntary Act, 1999, and have appeared in the ABC's television programme The Collectors with Gordon Brown.
