John Furphy,President,Australian Antique Dealers Association The AUSTRALIAN ANTIQUE AND ART DEALERS' ASSOCIATION represents around 135 of Australia's leading antiques and art dealers, from all states. The Association was formed in 1992 from an amalgamation of the state dealer associations, some of which had been operating for 30 to 40 years. Our member's specialities cover a wide range from paintings to books to tribal art to Art Deco, and details of these specialties can be found on this site in the Members Listing area. Every member has established their knowledge and reputation through many years of study and experience. Many of our members also provide additional professional services such as restoration work, valuations, consultancy, commission buying and selling, rental and hiring of pieces for theatre and commercial requirements, lecture and seminar resources.

Included in the objects for which the Association was established is the aim of elevating the antiques and arts trades as a whole and promoting greater efficiency and usefulness by compelling observance of strict rules of conduct as a condition of membership and by setting up a high standard of knowledge in the antiques and art trade.

Our members are bound by the Association's Code of Practice with regard to accurate description of goods, correctness of invoices and fair trading in general. As a consequence, you can confidently deal directly with our members who will ensure you always receive the best professional service and advice.

Each year in late August, we hold the Australian Antiques and Fine Art fair in Sydney. This event showcases the stock of between 55 and 65 of our members, and is the only fully vetted antiques and art fair in Australia. Since its establishment in 2001 it has become recognised as the premier antiques and art event in Australia. Annual dates for the fair are available on this site.

I invite you to utilise the many and varied services provided by our members and I wish you many enjoyable hours in studying, browsing, collecting and decorating with antiques and art.

John Furphy,
President.
